The night I left
The night I left, I was a jumble of emotions.
I wondered how the next 30 days would be for me.
If I would survive the weather.
If Jaden would be a big boy when I came home.
If my parents would be worried sick.
If anyone would even notice that I was gone.
The night I left, I watched the lights on the wing of the aircraft blink.
And I blinked back tears.
It lifted off, and I knew I couldn't turn back.
For the first time in my life, I was utterly alone.
The night I left, I was scared to death.
